Eid Ghadir Celebrations in Sunni Sufi Centers In India
date approx 24 june 2024
Sunni Sufi centers are keen on celebrating Eid Ghadir. Holding ceremonies on various occasions related to the Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) is an ancient tradition among Sunnis, and due to the influence of various radical Sunni movements, it had faded somewhat. However, the Sufis of the Indian subcontinent are again showing an increasing interest in the Ahlul Bayt (a.s.).
Sunnis hold ceremonies related to the Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) in various ways, including singing hymns, singing qawwali, giving speeches, offering offerings, gatherings, and holding weddings.
People from different walks of life, both Muslims and non-Muslims, are present at these ceremonies. Sometimes Shia elites and intellectuals are also invited, but the presence of Shias is very small. In 12 Sunni centers, the Council of Sects participated in the celebration of Eid Ghadir. Shia preachers and missionaries also participated in the ceremony. Some of these centers were present for the lecture and also other centers including Maligaon city of Maharashtra, Astana Niazi Mir Gurban Ali in Jaipur city, Astana Ziauddin Iraqi in Jaipur city, Astana Sangaridi in Telangana, Astana Safipur in Uttar Pradesh were consulted for organizing the Ghadir celebration ceremony and they also organized the ceremony without the participation of the Qadr Foundation
