Meeting with Maulana Syed Ahmad Bukhari, Imam and Khatib of Delhi’s Jama Masjid
The Jama Masjid of Delhi was built by the order of Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal emperor of India and the builder of the Taj Mahal, between 1650 and 1656 AD/1060 and 1066 AH. This mosque is located opposite the Red Fort in the Old Delhi area and is considered one of the important centers of Muslims in India.
The ancestors of Mr. Syed Ahmad Bukhari have been holding the position of Imam of the mosque since the time of King Shah Jahan. The first Imam of the Royal Mosque of Delhi was Syed Abdul Ghaffar Shah Bukhari, who was appointed by the Mughal king.
