This school was founded in Deoband, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh in 1866 by scholars and elites of India, including: Muhammad Qasim Al-Nanotwi, Rashid Ahmad Gangui, Zulfiqar Ali Deobandi and Sheikh Haj Abid Hussain. This school is the largest seminary in India. The number of official students is currently close to four thousand, and its director and president is Maulana Abul Qasim Nomani.
Darul Uloom Deoband is the largest and oldest Islamic university or school in the Indian subcontinent. This school is located in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh, halfway between the cities of Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur. Some believe that this school is the largest seminary in Asia. This school was founded by Indian scholars and elites including: Muhammad Qasim Al-Nanotvi, Rashid Ahmad Gangui, Zulfiqar Ali Deobandi and Sheikh Hajj Abid Hussain.
The Head of the Religious Affairs Council of India, Mr. Syed Sadiq Hussaini, visited this great scientific center and had a cordial meeting with the prominent figures of that scientific center such as Mr. Arshad Madani, and useful and necessary discussions were held.
Mr. Arshad Madani is a scholar, writer and teacher of Deobandi Hadith. He is the National President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a professor of Hadith and the current head of the Darul Uloom Deoband School and an honorary member of the Islamic Ulema of Mecca and the Vice President of the Personal Rights Board of Indian Muslims. He is considered a strong voice of Indian Muslims.
The officials of this great center gave a good welcome to the Head of the Religious Affairs Council and he first spoke with prominent well-known scientific figures and then visited the entire Darul Uloom, and Mr. Arshad Madani accompanied him despite his old age and severe weakness.
